AAJA-Chicago member Lorene Yue of Crain’s Chicago Business received multiple honors for “Austin business owners in the line of fire,” a special report about crime in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood. The Association of Business Information and Media Companies awarded Lorene and photographer Stephen J. Serio a Jesse H. Neal Award for best use of video. Lorene’s report also won in the Feature category in the Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ 2012 Best in Business contest.

AAJA-Chicago member Rui Kaneya of the Chicago Reporter is part of three teams named as finalists in the Chicago Headline Club’s Lisagor Awards. Two reports, “Minor Misconduct” and “Waiting in Vain,” are finalists in the In-depth Reporting category. Rui was also part of a team whose “Dying for Attention” report was named a finalist in the Non-Deadline Reporting category.
